Drawing on stone

2 weeks ago I spent a 2nd week on the isle of Portland in Tout quarry working withLearningStone transferring once again a life drawing onto stone. Working with others in the group creating their own various different work was stimulating and encouraging. The direction given by instructors Hannah Sofar and Paul was at a helpful level for someone who has only worked with stone once before. Something about putting my drawing into relief sculpture 2d to something akin, almost not quite to 3D

I visited Clare WoodsClarewoods.com exhibition at Hestercombe on the return journey, a retrospective exhibition of landscape with response to the surroundings and individuals, quite dark writhing landscapes with on occasion  body forms arising from the deep, evocative.

This was really positive and provided yet another impetus when so much time has been mostly happily spent sorting my new home over the summer and getting to know the Frome area, a holiday in my new home. Gradually happening even now the phantom plumber!

    1. But I’ve been encouraged to continue with drawing rather than this amazing experience due to its permanency i.e. Stone, at university and my other works more living lines. Something I’m working through not easy but getting there!
